Come Too Far To Turn Around

Diana Krall
Diana Krall
December 28, 2013

This week on A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor, we'll close out 2013 with a rebroadcast from last December at The Town Hall in New York City. Diana Krall sings "Glad Rag Doll," Rob Fisher and The DiGiallonardo Sisters have the "Heebie Jeebies," and a word from Lutheran Air, the airline that insults you with a smile. In Lake Wobegon, the Chatterbox Cafe's potato sausage gives the town a festive aroma.

Bus Children
(Dec. 17, 2013)

The schoolbus lyrics you sang in April are quite different from those you sang in February, 2006. What brought about the changes? Loren Engrav Seattle -- Do you mean the lyric "Bus Children," the one that begins: Out on the...

The Condition of Being Human
(Dec. 19, 2013)

Listened to the show Saturday and it was not bad. It's been something of a crazy month so far with school activities and concerts and shopping and shoveling and baking and sending things out in the mail which I forget...

RUSS RINGSAK

Nukes, Steaks, Rock & Roll
(Oct. 22, 2013)

Lincoln, Nebraska brings back memories. I left my small town home in northeast North Dakota after graduating from high school a smidge short of magna cum laude. My dad offered me a deal: he wouldn't give me a free ride...

O, What a Luxury
O, What a Luxury by Garrison Keillor

O, What a Luxury: Verses Lyrical, Vulgar, Pathetic & Profound collects verse written by Garrison Keillor, most of it for performance on A Prairie Home Companion. These poems are about places — Kansas, Sunset Boulevard, Seattle ("everything is uphill in Seattle"), Minnesota, Manhattan ("If the Oyster Bar is fresh out of oysters/ We'll take the subway up to the Cloisters") — fatherhood ("That old man in the garage once let loose a great barrage"), and odes to Mozart, onion soup, plumbers, the importance of honking your own horn, and the Republican lady from Knoxville who bought her brassieres by the boxful.
