On this day in 1936, Jesse Owens won the first of his four gold medals at the Berlin Olympic Games. The achievement of the African-American sharecroppers' son from Alabama instantly put Owens in the pantheon of the greatest athletes of all time and symbolically decimated Adolf Hitler's myth of Aryan racial superiority. The 3 composites - Pedestrians, shadows and crossroad became a performance. The crossroad was the platform, performers were the pedestrians while the light that shines on the road, directing the whole show. While people were walking, the lights shine upon them as if there were spotlights. The shadows that appeared, mixed with the horizontal crossroad, created a dynamic image of light and shadow.
